Greetings Auxiliary Members,
The
Auxiliary officers have been busy the past couple of months. Six of us
attended the School of Instruction on July 27 & 28. We received
alot of valuable information on all the programs and how to work them.
Auxiliary is not just monthly meetings and breakfasts, but how to help
veterans and their families, supporting our active-duty military and
participating in post- and community-related events. Auxiliary donated
food and money towards two benefit dinners to help one of our Legion
Riders' son with much needed medical treatments. We participated at the
National Night Out on August 6 at Green Acres Park. We handed out
information on the American Legion Family. We held our monthly
breakfast on August 2. Some of us helped the Post stuff and distribute
school backpacks on August 9 and 10. We also participated in the
Bully Awareness Rally held on August 25 sponsored by the Legion
Riders. We still meet on a monthly basis to discuss all these events
and plan on future events. We are currently planning our Department
President's homecoming celebration for September 14. If you want to get
in on and be a part of what we are planning, please come to the
meetings and support your Auxiliary officers and members. We would like
to hear about your ideas and suggestions.
Our next meeting is
scheduled for Wednesday, September 18 at 7:00 pm. Our next breakfast
will be on Saturday, September 7. Any help is greatly appreciated.
As with the new school
year starting, let's remember our three R's: Renew: The 2014
membership cards are in, so if you haven't renewed, please do so now, so
you can be an Early Bird. Recruit: If you know someone who might be
eligible for membership, please recruit them. Responsibility:
Remember, that membership is every member's responsibility.
Proud to be a member of the American Legion Auxiliary serving veterans and their families.
Vicki Ovalle
Unit 25 President
Good morning David,
ReplyDeleteMy reason for writing this letter is to give kudos to the Legion Riders, and the S.A.L.S. This not intended to take anything from anyone. I was just so impressed with Johnny and Lucy Harris for the Halloween party at the post, their were officers here from Albuquerque for a meeting the next morning, when Randy and I arrived they were in the kitchen making sandwiches and chips and dip, what impressed me that Lucy was walking around waiting on the customers. Every time I attend something at the post the one thing I notice is the Riders are front and center lending a hand. This year they held three fundraisers to help there members that were in need. They do the cooking and donation of there time. It warms my heart to see how selfless the riders are for our Veterns and there families. I also would like to mention the S.A.L.S. They also are a very giving group of men also put the needs of our veterans. I know their are a lot of people that give of themselves, but I just wanted to say a great big thank you as 2013 comes to an end. Keep up the good work.
